The hand rolled (roll your own or RYO) cigarette is more popular in NZ than in any other OECD country apart from Norway. Yet no studies have been completed on its toxicity as a cigarette, or more importantly on those  who smoke it, compared with manufactured cigarettes. Its main harm, however, is that it keeps people inhaling smoke instead of quitting smoking.
